Windsor & back

Train out to Kingston & 40+ mile round trip via Windsor Great Park. Quick spin through Coworth Park hotel including riding across their terrace. Wanted to ride down The Long Walk, but apparently it's not allowed. Don't think HM would have been amused! Mostly dry save for 10 minute deluge on the way to Clapham Jn. Mrs Y wants me to join a cycle club to find some training buddies. Maybe her brother will finally get some wheels & join me on my training regime!

Cotswold weekend

Somewhat akin to a tourist tour of the Cotswolds' finest villages & towns. Northleach, Bourton, The Slaughters, Burford, Bibury & back to the wonderful Barnsley House. A little over 40 miles on Sat, followed by 15 on Sun. Great food, a few beers & a chimney fire on arrival!!

Lewes on a Sunday

Morning ride down to Lewes with Mrs Y. There by midday. It appeared to be the morning after the night before (bonfire night) & a packed train back to London. Seemed a bit of a cop out to turn left in Ditchling & not attack 'The Beacon'. Maybe next time!!

Beautiful day in The Cotswolds

Upped the distance with a 58 mile around the Cotswolds last Sat. Lots of climbs, great weather & great scenery. Definitely one to be done again, though maybe next time, the start/finish line should be the Woolpack in Slad. Great little pub.

Lazy day

Still gutted after Wales' defeat yesterday. Kept the ride short today, but good to get out. Next week heading down to the Cotswolds for something a little longer.

Why does anybody ride over these?

Background reading on the cobblestones of northern France. This is madness. I fear for my bike & body.

The training has begun...

Two rugby world cup quarter-finals & few rotations of Richmond Park. Rob is doing the ride too & has just acquired a Trek Madone. Big bike envy!!

It all starts in the morning....

In May 2012, I shall be doing stage 5 of the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam. It's 578km from Nancy to London over four days, including the cobbles of the Hell of the North. The overall aim is to raise £2.012m for charity, and hopefully have some fun along the way. Will keep you posted on my progress, both on the ride itself & the training regime which starts in the morning.
